Rockford Rivets event will bring Cubs, Bears, Packers stars to town

Jan 10, 2024

The Rockford Rivets, a local collegiate summer baseball team in the Northwoods League, will host the first annual Legends Celebrity Softball Game on July 15, which will feature some names of stars from the past for both Wisconsin and Chicago sports' fans.

This is expected to be an annual fixture for the Rockford area.

"I have had the pleasure of hosting 20 similar events throughout the country, and each have been wildly successful," Rivets President and GM Steve Malliet said in a statement. "Where else can you get close to so many sports stars and even have a chance to meet them in person."

There are still more expected to be added to the rosters soon.

The first annual celebrity softball charity game will be held at Rivets Stadium, 4503 Interstate Blvd., Loves Park, on July 15. The time will be announced at a later date.

A portion of the proceeds from the The Legends Celebrity Softball Game will benefit the Rockford Boy's and Girl's Club.
