Driver runs into Jacksonville house, leaves scene, police say

A Jacksonville resident had a rude awakening this weekend when a car drove into her house.

A Jacksonville resident had a rude awakening this weekend when a car drove into her house.

A resident of the first block of Westfair Drive told police a loud noise jolted her from sleep about 3:12 a.m. Sunday. She suspected it was a car hitting the side of the house.

Police confirmed a car going west on Westfair Drive went off the road, crossed through the woman's front yard and hit the east exterior wall of the house.

The driver took off and has not been found, police said.

No one was injured. It appears the house sustained just cosmetic damage, according to police.
